Y-posts, more prevalent in Australia and New Zealand, are often referred to as star pickets or "Waratahs." These steel posts have a Y-shaped cross-section, making them suitable for supporting wire mesh, barbed wire, and temporary fencing solutions. They are particularly useful for fencing in solid rock, as they can be cemented or epoxied into drilled holes. Y-posts are coated with black bituminous material and feature notches and holes along their length for easy attachment of fencing materials.
